What is an edible print?
Edible ink printing creates images using food colouring onto various confectionery products. Designs made with edible ink are created with an edible ink printer, a specialty device that transfers an image onto a thin, edible paper. The first U.S. patent for edible ink printing was filed by George J. Krubert of the Keebler Company and granted in 1981. The first papers of this process used rice paper, while modern versions use frosting sheets. Edible print technology has come a long way since 1981, and modern methods allow for a delicious and high-resolution quality print. Edible paper is made of starches and sugars and printed with edible food colours. All edible inks and paper materials used are FDA approved. Edible ink is just the same as domestic food colouring, only a slightly different consistency to allow for the print process.

What are the product ingredients?
Our 5cm sugar cookies with fondant icing contain;
- Cookie Ingredients: Flour, Baking powder, Sugar, Egg, Milk.
- Fondant: Sugar, Glucose, Water, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Maize Starch, Flavour, Stabilisers (413,466), Modified Starch (1422), Preservative (202), Colour (171), Emulsifiers (322, 492), Acidity Regulator (260), Antioxidant (307b).
- Edible Ink: Water, humectant, glycerin, ethanol, artificial colourings: FDC red 40, FDC blue 1, FDC red 3, FDC yellow 5; preservative: methylparaben (0,1%).
- Allergens: Gluten, Dairy, Eggs. Processed in a kitchen that handles gluten and nut products.

What type of ink do you use?
The photos are printed with special edible ink made from food colouring. Specifically, the edible ink contains water, humectant, glycerin, ethanol, artificial colourings: FDC red 40, FDC blue 1, FDC red 3, FDC yellow 5; preservative: methylparaben (0,1%).
What does the fondant taste like?
The icing print has a slight sugary flavour, but other than that, it does not have much flavour at all. This allows the flavour of the cookie to be the focus.
Can I upload my own design to print my own photo on the cookie?
Yes. Choose the 'Upload Your Design' option in the templates.
How long does it take to process an order?
It can take between 3-10 days for you to receive your order, depending on the quantity and our current demand. If you are looking for an estimated delivery for your order, get in touch with our support team via support@printyum.com and we will see what we can do to help.
How long do your products remain fresh?
Cookies stay fresh in a sealed container for up to three weeks. They should also be kept out of the light to prevent any colour fading.
Does the image have to be a photo?
You can upload many types of images to create custom logo cookies or artwork cookies. If you can print it on paper, you can print it on a cookie!
What file types do you support?
We support most standard image file types including .JPG and .PNG
